Description
Wave action on the black volcanic rocks on the southern coast of Iceland makes for black sand. The town of Vik is the southernmost town in Iceland and has quite a few of these black sand beaches around it. Many times, down here, the weather is foggy or misty and the sky is cloud covered. There are sea stacks off the coast and puffins and other birds up on the cliffs. In the late spring and early summer, lupines are in the grassy areas all around. (June 2022)
