Description
Sanderlings are fascinating birds that breed in the Arctic, but migrate all over the world during the winter. They are famous for running in and out with the waves, picking out invertebrates from the sand. The Chesapeake Bay area is a hot spot because they feast on horseshoe crab eggs which are laid there in abundance. (December 2018)
